Becoming A Patriot! Hands on History Tent At Carlyle House Historic Park

Fairfax, VA (May 12, 2010) – Discover what life would have been like 250 years ago as the colonists became Americans at Carlyle House Historic Park.  On Tuesday, June 29th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. drill like a continental soldier, climb inside a soldiers tent, see what they ate and how they washed.  Grab a quill pen and sign the Declaration of Independence and decide what the new country’s flag should look like.  Try on colonial clothes and draw a miniature portrait for a soldier to take off to war.  Children ages 3-12 and their caregivers.  For more information, contact Heather Dunn at Carlyle House Historic Park, hdunn@nvrpa.org or 703-549-2997.
