Summer Concert: Four Star Combo- Country Rock

Musical performances by local groups are held at the stage/field every other Saturday evening during the summer. There is no admission fee, but donations of $5+ per person are requested as they help fund the series. Picnic suppers are welcome (no alcohol, please). No reservations required. Performer Description: In concert, the Four Star Combo serves up a heapin' helpin' of red-hot 1950's Rockabilly, with a side order of vintage Honky Tonk. We're talkin’ about the original Rock 'n' Roll here, and Country music when it was really Country. Think Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Hank Williams, Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash, Gene Vincent, Conway Twitty, Jack Scott, Buck Owens, and Roy Orbison-to name but a few in thes...e styles. The band has an extensive repertoire of classic covers, and is also proud of it's own original songs written in these vintage genres. Sound of the band is stripped-down and primal, emerging from the PA like a long-lost radio broadcast from 1956! The Four Star Combo, which made it's debut in December, 2007, has recently reemerged with a new, revitalized lineup. Individually, the band members all have long resumes in the roots music field. Collectively, the band combines an encyclopedic knowledge of these styles with deep feeling and some serious chops. Appearing in 1950's 'cat' clothes, playing vintage instruments, the band and it's hopped-up Rock 'n' Roll sounds are typically met with a raucous welcome, even from crowds unfamiliar with the styles. (A recent fan reaction: "I didn't even know I liked this kind of music!"). The band's enjoyment and love of the music is obvious, and the fun is infectious.
